I switched from ChatControlPro about a month ago and I must say, I am very disappointed with the Red version. Commands are much more complicated now. If I need to quickly mute my chat bc of spam or a bot raid, instead of doing /cc mute, I now have to do /ccmute channel global [time]. GriefPreventions softmute doesn’t automatically work anymore. Nealy ALL the permissions changed and it took way too long to figure out which permissions were needed for people to be able to talk in the appropriate channels. (We only have staff and a global channel.)
I really hate that there’s literally no where to ask a simple question without submitting a ticket on github. The discord is disabled bc apparently the creator of a CHAT plugin can’t figure out how to monitor and moderate their discord chat, and it’s apparently such a problem that he had to shut it down??? I never saw an issue in that discord server. The discussion area of McMarket is blocked from comments so you can’t even ask there. So you are forced to go to the github and wait for a reply from the devs just to know what the new /togglepm command is, when it’d be much faster and easier to ask on a discord and get help from the community. Leaving the github ticket area to be used as it’s supposed to be, for bug reports and suggestions. Not to mention there’s a warning on the github that threatens to pull your license for the plugin if you don’t follow the ticket format…
And please for the love of all that is holy, fix your product overview page. It’s longer than the line at the DMV, and just mildly more effective. Ain’t no one want to read all that mess.
Once I get some other things squared away, I’ll be running from this plugin as far as I can.
BUT it does have some great and super useful features. It’s just too frustrating for me to want to mess with it all anymore. (Been using ChatControlPro for several years, so it’s not like I don’t know what I’m doing.)
